Finding the Balance
My favorite movie of all time is now “Into the Wild.” It’s based on the true story of Christopher McCandless who decide to abandon society and live a new life in the wild.
I can’t stop thinking about it, because, for me, there is always that struggle of wanting to be a part of society to make a difference and wanting to be free and wild. Although I have not found it yet, I do think there is a balance between these two extremes. I’ll let you know if I ever find it.
However, the solution might come from our prioritization. Even I have to admit that work and finances control my life and thoughts at certain times, and this is when I lose my connection to the world around me. These are the times when I forget to give energy back to the world, because I’m too focused on myself. It might sound odd, but even if I have a few moments to sit and appreciate the trees, grass and sky, there is a sense of a cyclical fulfillment. Maybe if we turn to the simple things—building and sharing connections with all that is natural (people, plants, animals, etc.)—a happy balance can be uncovered.
