A Versatile Walking Boot

Are you an active person who is always looking for the next hiking challenge? Well, braving the great outdoors is an exciting way to enjoy your free time, but do you have the right shoes to get you over the mountains and through the rough terrain? A versatile pair of hiking boots can support your adventures and take on different seasons too. Buying the right boots the first time around will prevent you from needing a different style for each season.

What is the difference between cross-trainers and hiking boots? Cross-trainers are more functional for lateral movement, but hiking boots stabilize your ankle and allow motion in the foot too. Although cross-trainers give you stability on uneven trails and debris, boots have larger treads that will do you well in spring, summer and fall. Plus, you will have more coverage, especially if you have to cross small streams in the chilly autumn weather.

The Berghaus Explorer Ridge GTX Walking Boots, which are leather boots made for wear during two and three seasons. These boots are made from full grain leather, but the shoe isn’t as heavy as traditional boots. On the bottom, the boots have aggressive lugs to give you the best traction. According to Webtogs, they have a special lacing system, which allows the shoe to expand when your feet swell during humid weather. The exterior GOR-TEX membrane keeps the shoe resistant to water, but it does allow moisture from your foot to escape. In order to support your ankle, the Ergonomic Holding System (EHS) provides top of the line stability.

Forget uncomfortable blisters and sore feet after a day in the woods, because these shoes are designed to hug your feet in all the right places. With the PU mid-sole that absorbs shock, you will be the only person in your hiking group who will not need a foot rub. Exploring the trails, woods and mountains around you is a great way to challenge your body and awaken your mind and having a versatile boot can save you the hassle of buying three different types of hiking shoes for each season.

Meat Eating Plants

2333673430_2de087fcb5.jpgOpening your windows and letting the breeze filter through your home is refreshing, but it can also give ants, flies and other bugs an easy entry. Anymore it’s scary when you get bit by bugs, because you never know how concerned to be about a bump on your skin. You could get viruses and diseases but more than likely you survive and the itchy, red bump on your skin goes away.

To combat these pesky insects, handle them in a more natural way without using chemicals: grow a water garden full of carnivorous plants! Learn how by reading Ways to Control Pests Without the Chemicals.

Ranking Green Hotels

Published by catseyeediting under Green Tips Edit This

93551416_90df7fd7ee.jpgWhat is your idea of a green hotel? Maybe it’s a hotel that uses eco-friendly cleaning supplies or Energy Star appliances. Depending on how high you set your standards, you might have a long list of preferred earth friendly amenities. If you do set the bar high when it comes to choosing a green hotel, wouldn’t it be convenient if the hotel had a green score for you to refer to?

RezHub.com has individually ranked more than 1,600 hotels in over 40 countries, so the number of tree branch icons a hotel has determines how green it is. I did a quick search for green hotels in Boulder, Colorado-my favorite state to visit-and came up with three matches: St. Julien Hotel and Spa, Hotel Boulderado and Boulder Outlook Hotel and Suites. Right from the search results, I can see that Hotel Boulderado scored two branches, because they have amenities such as recycling, organic food, re-usable service items, water conservation, etc. I’ve always thought about staying in this hotel, but the two other hotel options received four Green Branches so I might stay at one of these hotels on my next visit.

Even if you choose not to sort by green hotels, the hotels with green amenities will still come up in the same search results as a normal hotel search. When you click on a hotel’s Green Branches, RezHub provides a list of green amenities showing why the hotel deserves its Green Score. If you prefer hotels that offer organic food and use compact fluorescent lighting and a fresh-air exchange system, this is an easy way to locate a hotel with all of your green needs. Watch the feature tour to learn more.
